Worst Movies Ever: 1940s

Hello, my loves!

It's time for another worst movie's ever post and this time we're taking on the 1940s. Doing this series is actually a ton of fun and I honestly cannot stop laughing at how bad they are.

The two movies on the list for today are No Orchids for Miss Blandish and The Babe Ruth Story.

No Orchids for Miss Blandish (1948)

Before watching the movie, I did a little research as to why it's on this list, and after watching the movie I would have to agree... it was fucking horrible.

Looking from the perspective of the time, I would understand how the violence and suggested sexuality (the implication of rape, the implied nudity) would be considered risque at the time. The movie is based on a novel by the same name released in 1939 and is a British Production. The story is based in New York and well... let's just say right off the bat, the accents were just HORRIBLE. Think of Anne Hathaway in Becoming Jane. Just like her accent in the movie, the accents here were really bad and inconsistent. It also feels like a horribly done Romeo & Juliet.

The Babe Ruth Story (1948)

Okay, so I've rolled my eyes so much that they're now stuck... The movie portrayed Babe Ruth as an idiot and presents him on a very weird pedestal showing a kid suffering from paralysis being cured just by him saying hello, which is the most insane thing I've ever seen.

I'm so happy I'm done with these '40s. Brace yourself everyone... the 50s are coming.
