I love you Paneer ❤

Just in case you were not aware of this, I love paneer. Now that I've gotten that part out of the way, here's what paneer is:

Paneer is a form of cottage cheese that is indignant to India. Unlike most cheeses, it does not melt and made with curdled milk and an acidic component like lemon juice.

There are tons of South Asian dishes which use this cheese, and I love them all. Some of the most commonly known curry dishes are; Mattar Paneer-which is the paneer with peas, Paneer Tikka- marinated paneer that has been grilled, and my favourite, Shahi Paneer- which paneer in a tomato-based sauce.

A common way of comparison is that the curry base for Shahi Paneer is the same as Butter Chicken.

A few weeks ago my friend @CheatEatsTO suggested Avani's Bistro which is a restaurant hidden away on Mavis & Matheson in Mississauga.

The restaurant was quite cute and spacious and the food was really good! I had the Shahi Paneer with Galic Naan and it was quite good. The sauce was full of flavour and the paneer chunks were quite large. The Naan was really good and was not packed with crushed garlic like many other places and was soft. My only complaint would be that it wasn't spicy enough.

Few things to keep in mind: Unlike a majority of Indian restaurants, rice is not offered with your dishes which was quite surprising. Also, keep in mind that the portion sizes are ridiculously huge! Don't let that picture fool you.

Be sure to check them out!
